Highlights

Every child is entitled to the fundamental human right to attend school and learn. Education can be transformational for children and is key to reducing poverty and building healthy, resilient, and peaceful societies. UNICEF is dedicated to making sure that all children can exercise their right to a quality education, from early learning opportunities that lay the foundation for academic success through to the completion of secondary school. This report highlights UNICEF’s progress and achievements made in 2017. The Schools for Asia initiative currently operates in 11 countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Mongolia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Timor-Leste, and Viet Nam.
